Department of Emergency Medicine
PA Education
West Virginia University Department of Emergency Medicine is dedicated to furthering PA Training and Education. Our faculty have taught Post Graduate Physician Assistants in Emergency Medicine for over 13 years. We are a department with firm ties to ACEP, and have faculty members who have served as the ACEP Liaison to AAPA.
We have recently had our Intent to Plan a new program approved!
The new program will consist of 8 University courses over 4 regular semesters. Course material will be deliverd electronically over the internet. The courses will cover the Core Content in Emergency Medicine, as well as Environmental Emergencies and Emergency Medicine Procedures.
The program is designed to allow an a-la-carte selection of the course work for a refresher on one particular area, or completion of a certificate by taking all 8 courses.
Completion of our proposed program will result in a Certificate of Specialty Training in Emergency Medicine. This program is in the finalization phases, and will hopefully be complete and ready to start in the summer of 2008.
