Exercise Adherence Assessment and Counseling
The Human Performance Lab staff will assist participants with identifying behavioral and psychosocial risk factors that might cause them to drop out of the exercise programs. Participants will be assisted with behavioral techniques to improve exercise adherence and compliance.
Diabetes Education
Diabetes education and control are an increasing problem for West Virginia residents. Patients with diabetes are required to monitor their blood glucose both before and after exercise. In this manner, participants can become more aware of their own condition and blood glucose response to exercise. Time and care are taken to fully explain and evaluate the medication regime and how it should correlate with the patient's diet and exercise prescription. |

Nutrition Consultation
For those active participants in the Human Performance Lab, a consultation with a nutritionist is available. They can review your eating habits and discuss ways to improve your diet. Many participants find the consult to be rewarding in the number of different ways to prepare a favorite dish.
