Educational Activities
The first Tuesday and the first Friday of every month are devoted to X-Ray didactics and Sports Medicine didactics. Our Family Medicine Residency Program currently has 18 allopathic residents and 4 osteopathic interns in house. Residents and Interns are exposed to two months of Musculoskeletal/Sports Medicine during their training. The schedule for this rotation is completed by Dr. Monteleone, and includes the Department of Orthopedics. During this rotation our residents have the oppourtunity to work with local high school athletes. In addition to monthly lectures on Sports Medicine and X-ray's Dr. Monteleone also provides impromptu lectures to Medicine students involved in the Family Medicine Interest Group as well as the WVUH Sports Medicine Interest Group. Some of the topics include ACL Assessment, Skis for Knees, Shoulder and Knee injuries and Splinting and Bracing Workshops.
