WVU Family Medicine Resident Curriculum
Management of Health Systems
| General: |
The WVU Department of Family Medicine Residency curriculum includes a one month rotation dedicated to the Managment of Health Systems. This rotation is designed to complement the monthly lecture series in Practice Management and to supplement the practice managment experience gained while participating in the RHEP sponsored rural rotations.
The Management of Health Systems rotation uses the Family Medicine Center as a learning laboratory to help the resident explore essential elements of practice managment including finance and budget development, billing and collections, personnel management, clinical and patient flow systems, quality assurance, and marketing. The course is designed to meet the individual needs of residents, while at the same time, providing an opportunity to promote practice improvement through health systems analysis. Residents become "junior partners" as they engage in problem solving and strategic practice in today's complex health environment. The rotation is designed to be practical and to assist the residents with successful transition into their post-residency career. |
