Longitudinal Community Scholar
The "Longitudinal Community Scholars" (LCS) program provides training in research skills under the preceptorship of community physicians. Students enrolled in the LCS program will link with community physicians to learn to identify community health problem(s), design appropriate research around the identified problem(s), and attempt to remedy the problem(s) when revisiting the site as Summer Externs after year one of classes. The ultimate outcome will be to create physicians with problem-solving skills. These skills will allow the physician to not only treat sick individuals but to identify and act upon community-level health problems.
