Mathew Lively, DO
Director of Osteopathic Medical Education
Dr. Lively received his medical degree in 1993 from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and his Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology in 1989 from Eastern Illinois University. After completing a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1998, he joined the faculty at WVU where he is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
His primary area of focus is Sports Medicine and he has been a Team Physician for the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics since 1995 and has served as the Medical Director for WVU Athletics since 1998. He has many published articles in the sports medicine literature and is actively involved in research in both sports medicine and exercise physiology.
Dr. Lively also serves as Program Director for the Osteopathic Internal Medicine Residency at WVU and as the Medical Director of the Human Performance Laboratory in the WVU Department of Exercise Physiology. He has been the Osteopathic DME since the summer of 2008.
