Patient Care

The West Virginia University School of Medicine is indeed fortunate to be affiliated with some of the finest health care facilities in the state of West Virginia. Not only do they serve as a base for clinical instruction, they are the site of care for countless numbers of West Virginians.

As one School, we provide learning opportunities throughout the state. Our primary teaching hospitals include West Virginia University Hospitals, including Ruby Memorial Hospital, West Virginia University Children's Hospital, and the Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center in Morgantown, West Virginia University Hospitals East - the merger of the former Martinsburg City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital in the eastern panhandle, and Charleston Area Medical Centers three campuses - Memorial Division, General Division, and Women and Childrens' Hospital.

In addition the fauclty deliver care working with two practice plans whose missions are the support of the School of Medicine. West Virginia University Medical Corporation, dba University Health Associates, and University Physicians of Charleston assist the faculty in providing care while our students continue to learn.

West Virginia University Hospitals is the only hosptial in the state to receive Magnet Status by the American Nursing Association, and is one of less than a dozen academic medical centers to do so. In addition, it has been recognized as a top 100 hospital.
