Resident Doctor Licensure Requirements

Immunizations

The following records must be on file in Employee Health before a resident can see patients:

A. The CDC requires that we have the following written immunization documentation on all residents:

a) Hepatitis B 1,2,3

b) Tetanus

c) MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) 1, 2

d) History of Varicella or Immunization series

B. Serological testing for Hepatitis B, MMR and Varicella for showing immune IgG antibody levels.

C. Recent Tuberculosis skin testing (PPD) – within the last 12 months.

BLS/ACLS Requirements :

As of January 1, 2002, a current BLS card is required prior to enrolling in an ACLS re-certification course or the ACLS provider course. If you arrive at WVU with a current BLS card and / or a current ACLS card, you will not be enrolled in the courses.

All residents, except the Pathology residents, are required to maintain a current ACLS card. To schedule training, please call Training at 598-4045. WVU Hospitals, Inc. has a strict policy regarding residents/fellows maintaining a current ACLS card. Expiration of card could result in the non-renewal of the resident/hospital agreement.
