Mission-Based Management
Overview
Mission-Based Management is a unique approach to medical school management and a powerful tool for achieving the vision and strategy of leadership. MBM is directly aimed at enhancing mission effectiveness.
Mission-Based Management’ is implemented through the creation of reporting tools that measure faculty productivity and provide integrated financial tracking on a mission-specific basis, at three levels: the school, department, and individual faculty member.
Equipped with these tools as the basis for strategic decision making, leadership can reward mission-critical contributors and redirect resources to fund mission priorities (it is not the expectation that every mission will be profitable).
