Emergency Care

IN CASE OF A MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY,
call 911 IMMEDIATELY OR PROCEED TO THE NEAREST HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM

Urgent Care Number: WVU Health Line: 1-800-982-8242

• The WVU Health Line is available from 3:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. If you have an emergency after 12 p.m. please proceed to the nearest hospital emergency room
• This number can be used at any time or as an after hours number when the Infectious Disease office is closed
• The WVU Health Line is a call center that is staffed by registered nurses
• If you are experiencing a non-emergency medical problem or need medical advice, you may phone and speak with the WVU Health Line RN
• The RN can do the following:
  • give appropriate advice to sick callers
  • mail literature out on a health topic
  • refer callers to a service
  • make appointments for the caller to be seen in our clinics by a UHA physician
  • spend time on the phone with a caller explaining general health information
