MICB 200. Instructor: Valerie Watson
Medical Microbiology. 3 Hrs. Prerequisites: CHEM 111 and CHEM 112, BIOL 101 or equivalents. This course is designed for nursing, dental hygiene, and pre-pharmacy majors. It is also a recommended course for any student interested in acquiring a basic microbiology background for an allied health major. The course emphasizes basic microbiology with an emphasis on pathogenic microorganisms and the diseases they cause, immunology, and antimicrobial agents.
MICB 323. Instructor: Valerie Watson
Medical Microbiology. 5 Hrs. Prerequisites: Biochemistry. This course is designed for medical technology students. Students not in the medical technology program but interested in taking the course must obtain consent from the instructor before registering for the course. The course emphasizes basic microbiology with an emphasis on pathogenic microorganisms and the diseases they cause, immunology, and antimicrobial agents. This course includes a laboratory component emphasizing basic microbiological techniques, immunological techniques, and molecular biology techniques in the identification of pathogenic bacteria.

Medical Parasitology. 2 Hrs. Prerequisites: CHEM 111 and CHEM 112, BIOL 101 or equivalents. This course is designed for medical technology students. Students not in the medical technology program but interested in taking the course must obtain consent from the instructor before registering for the course. This course involves the study of human and animal parasites and disease vectors with emphasis on disease manifestations, parasite biology, and laboratory diagnosis.
