Patient Follow-Up

Patients are usually followed by the multi-disciplinary clinic where their progress is evaluated. The patient's clinical needs and convenience determine the frequency of these evaluations. Patients actively undergoing treatments will have an evaluation to determine the response to treatment and identify any potential side effects of the treatment. The functional capabilities and quality of life of the patients and their families are also evaluated. These follow-up evaluations are discussed at the tumor board meeting by the entire multi-disciplinary team. The results of these evaluations are appropriately communicated to the patient, their families, and the treating and primary care physicians. A separate multi-disciplinary clinic exists for pediatric patients with tumors of the brain and spine.
