Department of Neurosurgery

Neuro-Oncology Program

Tumor Board

The Neuro-Oncology team meets on a regular basis to evaluate new patients and monitor the progress of follow-up patients. The tumor board is staffed by our multi-disciplinary team consisting of the appropriate members from the departments of neurosurgery, neuropsychology, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, radiation-oncology, radiation physics, nursing, neuropathology and neuroradiology. The team discusses the patient's clinical condition, response to previous treatments, and identifies diagnostic and treatment options available for the patient. The team will initiate an educational program that disseminates the appropriate information to the patient, family, referring and primary care physicians. The team will identify treatment options ranging from standard to investigational and experimental therapy. A separate tumor board meeting takes place on a regular basis to evaluate and treat pediatric patients with tumors of the brain and spine.
