Subinternships

Applicants are welcome to do a rotation at WVU as a subintern. This allows the student and the WVU faculty to gauge whether there will be a "good fit". These "subinernships" should be arranged through the School of Medicine.

Doing a Subinternship is not a prerequisite to getting an interview or matching into this program. It does give the student and the faculty a chance to gauge whether there will be a “good fit.”

Why should I do a Subinternship at WVU?

  1. You will be integrated early into "hands on" training through the care of patients in the ER, OR, Inpatient and Outpatient areas.
  2. Morgantown is a nice place to live and has some of the best outdoor activities in the country.
  3. A month here will help you no matter where you go.

The rotation must be scheduled through Brenda Michael in the School of Medicine. We will make every effort to accommodate schedule requests up to 3 subinterns a month starting in July. Typically, July and December are the most available and all scheduling is on a 1st come, 1st served basis.

Students typically rotate on different services during the month to meet as many people here as possible. We try to provide housing for rotating students when possible!

**All applicants must provide proof of immunizations and titers to the School of Medicine prior to scheduling**
