Pre-OT Student Registration

Students in the Pre-OT major are responsible for registering themselves online after they receive their PIN number from their Advisor. We have included additional information and links below to help the student with this process.

Priority Dates:Each semester students are eligible to register based on their priority registration dates. For a list of priority registration dates for the next registration period go to: http://www.arc.wvu.edu/admissions/registration.html Click onRegistration Priority Dates.

Finding Courses:
Prior to beginning the registration process online, students should look up and choose classes that will fit into their schedule. For a list of classes being offered and when they are offered go to: http://www.arc.wvu.edu/courses/

Use the course search feature to find courses to fit your schedule. You are encouraged to have a few variations of a potential schedule planned in case the class day and time you want fills up. Once you find the classes you want write down the CRN number. Entering CRN numbers is a much faster way to register.

Checking Holds:
Students are strongly encouraged to check their account and make sure there are no active holds on their ability to register prior to the Priority Registration Dates. You can check your hold status by accessing the STAR system through MIX. Once in the STAR system click onStudent and Financial Aid.Under "Student Records" click on View Holds. This will let you see any holds on your account and resolve them prior to registration
Accessing the STAR registration system
When you are ready to register, you can navigate to the STAR system from you MIX account. Sign into MIX, click on the "STAR" tab at the top of the page and then click on "STAR Information System" Link. For more information on how to use the STAR system to register review the tutorial at: http://www.arc.wvu.edu/star/steps_for_registration.pdf This is an excellent resource.
Finding General Education Curriculum Classes (GEC)
Students need to construct their schedules to include courses from 9 objectives in the GEC. By completion of all of the OT pre-requisite courses students will complete Objectives 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7. Pre-OT students will need to select courses to meet Objectives 3,5, 8, & 9. Information about the GEC and courses included in any objective can be found at: http://www.arc.wvu.edu/courses/GEC.html
Taking courses at another institution
Some pre-OT students choose to take pre-requisite courses at other institutions and transfer the credits into WVU. To do this students currently enrolled at WVU will need to fill out a "Transient Application Form" and have it signed by Brenda Wolfe, academic advisor for Professional Programs. Students are responsible for making sure courses they take at other institutions will transfer into WVU as the course needed. Students can see how courses will transfer into WVU by going to: http://www.arc.wvu.edu/tes/select_college.php?SID

If when you check the system the institution you plan on attending is not listed you should consult with Brenda Wolfe, prior to taking the class. Brenda Wolfe can be reached at (304) 293-1690 or bwolfe@hsc.wvu.edu

Students Having Difficulty
If you are having difficulty with the registration process or finding appropriate classes to take you are encouraged to contact your faculty advisor or Brenda Wolfe.
