Mission & Goals

The Mission of the Occupational Therapy Program is to improve and to sustain health and to prevent and minimize the effects of illness and trauma for West Virginians through:
  1. The education of occupational therapists;
  2. Appropriate clinical research, theory development, and clinical practice development in the domain of occupational therapy, basic science, and rural health care delivery;
  3. The provision and sponsorship of continuing professional education;
  4. The provision of direct and supportive health services;
  5. The development and dissemination of scholarly knowledge in the field of occupational therapy;
  6. The active support of social justice within the institution and West Virginia society;
  7. The creation of new paths of scholarly development and investigation within the faculty and student communities
This mission is consistent with the missions of West Virginia University, the West Virginia University Health Sciences Education System, and the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center.
