Welcome to the West Virginia University Department of Otolaryngology. Since 1965, when the department and its residency program was started under the direction of Dr. Phillip Sprinkle, WVU’s otolaryngologists have been providing quality care to individuals from across the state and surrounding areas.

In addition to high quality patient care, the department supports an outstanding research division that is currently ranked twelth in the country in funding from the National Institutes of Health. The WVU Health Sciences Center provides the most up-to-date medical equipment to help us stay at the forefront of medical care. The combination of experienced physicians and advanced medical technology results in excellent patient care and provides a highly successful learning environment. Our residency program provides training in the wide spectrum of our specialty and is very competitive.

Nine full time otolaryngologists provide both general otolaryngology services as well as subspecialty care. We provide quality care at a variety of locations. Our main office is the Physician’s Office Center in Morgantown, but we also provide care at Morgantown ENT, located on Pineview Drive, and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon under the direction of Dr. Charles E. Haislip. One of the hallmarks of the department is experience; three of our physicians have been practicing otolaryngology for more than 30 years.
