Permanent Makeup
Permanent make-up is a process that involves micropigmentation or tattooing color to enhance facial features. This is usually performed to enhance eyelids, eyebrows, and lips. The word "permanent" is a bit misleading in that the pigmentation lasts for quite some time, though it is not permanent. Most micropigmentation lasts for several years, and may require touch-up at a later time.
The micropigmentation procedure can be especially rewarding to certain individuals. There are those who may have medical problems that may interfere or hinder the application of make-up, such as people with poor eyesight or severe arthritis. Some individuals may have lost their eyebrow hairs or have very sparse hair. Others may have allergies to cosmetics. Extremely active individuals may also consider micropigmentation as a method to conveniently modify their lifestyle.
After your consultation, Dr. Armeni will direct prospective patients to meet with an aesthetician or make-up artist to discuss their style/preference for applying make-up. You and the make-up artist will mutually develop a diagram or "map" showing the exact pattern of make-up application, as well as the color or shade that is best for you. This will be used as a template for your procedure.
The procedure of micropigmentation is performed in the surgery suite directly above the Morgantown Facial Plastic Surgery Center. Sedation or "twilight" anesthesia, along with a small amount of local anesthetic is given to provide optimal comfort to the patient. Immediately following the procedure, there is minimal swelling and bruising that quickly subsides. Patients usually return to work the next day.
