A 55-Year-Old Female with Worsening Generalized Rash

GROSS/MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION

 

Gross:

A punch biopsy of the lesions in the left arm was performed. Representative sections of the H&E stain were shown in figures 4 and 5.

The punch biopsy specimen measured 0.5cm in length and 0.5cm in diameter. The surface of the skin was noted for a greasy, crusted appearance.

Microscopic:

Figure 4 H&E low power. Hyperkeratosis with sparse superficial perivascular lymphocytic cell infiltrates.

Figure 5 H&E high power. Suprabasilar acantholysis with acantholytic dyskeratosis.
