52 year-old female with a thyroid gland nodule

GROSS DESCRIPTION
The thyroid gland was submitted as two separate (right and left) lobectomy specimens. The left lobe measured 5.0 x 2.0 x 1.5cm and weighed 6 grams. Cut surface revealed a well-circumscribed, yellow-tan nodule, 2.1 x 1.7 x 1.4 cm, without invasion through the thyroid capsule. The right lobe measured 4.5 x 1.5 x 1.5cm and weighed 5 grams. Cut surface revealed a well-circumscribed yellow-tan nodule, 0.8 x 0.8 x 0.8cm which was 0.2cm from the capsular margin.
A zone VI neck dissection measured 1.5 x 1.2 x 0.3cm. No lymph nodes were grossly identified.
