Prophylactic Thyroidectomy in a One Year Old

Patient History
A 15-month-old male diagnosed with a RET proto-oncogene genetic mutation was born at term without any medical problems. Since his father, older brother and paternal grandmother and grandfather all had this same mutation, he underwent a total thyroidectomy.
