79 year-old man with abdominal pain
Ryan Livengood, MD and Scott Nestor, DO
Patient History
A 79 year-old man visited his rural general surgeon with the complaint of abdominal pain and malaise. His past medical history was significant for asthma. Laboratory work revealed a moderate eosinophilia in the patient's peripheral blood, and endoscopic evaluation showed evidence of patchy small bowel necrosis. The surgeon biopsied the patient's small bowel mesentery for pathological evaluation, and initiated medications following surgery.
