Kathaleen Perkins, has established WVU as one of the centers of adolescent medicine for the pediatric profession across the country. It was because of her hard work that we developed a fellowship program in this specialty - one of only 20 in the U.S. She is tireless. She never says no when asked to present a lecture to medical students or residents. Her invention - the Perkins Adolescent Risk Screen - is in use around the country, and the world, and is even being translated into other languages. And, to ensure that WVU will always be a center for this important work, Dr. Perkins and her family have established an endowment to support adolescent medicine for future generations.
