Center for Advanced Imaging Clinical Services |
The Center for Advanced Imaging (CAI) at WVU was established to provide superior radiological services via a rare integration of clinical imaging with research and development. The clinical side of the CAI includes:
- a new PET/CT scanner,
- a cyclotron and radiochemical laboratory,
- a clinical/research 3 Tesla (3T) MRI scanner,
- a functional magnetic resonance imaging clinical program,
- a magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging,
- a dual-gradient MRI system in the Physicians Office Center,
- two state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla MRI scanners in the Health Sciences Center
State-of-the-art imaging techniques are available, including diffusion tensor white matter tracking and MR spectroscopic imaging. Quality assurance scans are performed regularly for all research and clinical protocols to ensure the integrity of the scans. Technical support is provided by two MR physicists in conjunction with an on-site GE service engineer.
The CAI faculty and staff are always focused on providing the highest quality of care to the patients and service to the referring physicians. The scans are read and interpreted by the Radiology faculty of West Virginia University. The faculty is composed entirely of qualified board-certified physicians with advanced training in their respective areas. The MRI and PET/CT technologists are qualified and board-certified. Imaging services are provided for patients throughout the state of West Virginia and bordering regions in Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
