Emergency Medicine Physician

West Virginia University School of Medicine announces outstanding opportunities for emergency medicine physicians. The successful applicant will have completed an accredited residency program, be board certified/eligible, and have experience in the academic or clinical settings. Available positions offer a highly flexible degree of emphasis on clinical practice, research, or education. Potential practice environments range from a free-standing urgent care facility to a tertiary care/Level I trauma center.

The Department of Emergency Medicine has nearly 30 full-time faculty members. Clinical practice sites include Ruby Memorial Hospital (~40,000 visits per year), United Hospital Center (~42,000 visits per year), Jefferson Memorial Hospital (~20,500 visits per year), and a free-standing Urgent Care. The Emergency Department at Ruby Memorial Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, and regional tertiary care center, which provides comprehensive emergency care to the sick and injured of West Virginia and neighboring states. The Ruby Memorial Hospital’s ED is the predominant teaching facility within the institution, serves as Medical Command to 28 counties of northern WV, and is home to the hospital-based air medical helicopter program. Abundant research opportunities are also available with established research focuses in stroke care, trauma care, injury prevention, wilderness medicine, and injury control. A new simulation-training center is also being built in order to foster resident training.
