Emergency Medicine Physician

West Virginia University School of Medicine has outstanding opportunities for open-rank BE/BC Emergency Medicine Physicians interested in medical education, coupled with a clinical practice in an efficient community setting. The clinical practice will be based primarily at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, a premier community hospital with an Emergency Department volume of 22,000. The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical care, teaching, and supervising Medical Students, and Family Medicine Residents. The department has efficient systems including twenty-four hour Radiology readings, rapid lab and x-ray turnaround times, and mid-level coverage. The Emergency Department is undergoing a $4.6 million expansion - doubling the current size and creating a Fast Track - which is expected to be completed mid-2008.

WVU Faculty at Jefferson Memorial Hospital enjoy the benefits of practicing at a community hospital affiliated with the WVU School of Medicine. The hospital is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia just 1 hour from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, M.D. A rural atmosphere and a lower cost of living mixed with the easy accessibility of the Washington/Baltimore areas make Jefferson County, West Virginia an ideal place in which to live. While Jefferson County is the fastest growing County in the state, it boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the country. In recent years, a steady influx of urban "refugees" - mostly professionals and executives from nearby Washington DC and Baltimore - has contributed to the growth of telecommuting and high-tech industries.
