Chief, Section of Rheumatology - Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University, Department of Medicine is seeking applications for the position of Chief, Section of Rheumatology.
Individuals selected should have credentials for a tenure track academic position at Associate Professor/Professor level and occupy an endowed Chair of Rheumatology and Arthritic Diseases. The Department of Medicine is seeking a clinician-scientist with outstanding leadership qualities, administrative skills and board certification in both internal medicine and rheumatology.
Preference will be given to candidates who have an established NIH funded research program which can align with other areas of research excellence within the institution. These include a newly formed research center in the Department of Medicine on inflammatory bowel disease as well as other new interdisciplinary centers of excellence which will focus on immunology and inflammation research as related to vascular disorders, respiratory diseases or obesity throughout the medical center.
The Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center has a full complement of academic programs in the clinical and basic sciences and offers the advantage of a university setting in a beautiful small city.
The health science center is the premier tertiary referral center for West Virginia, a population of over 1.8 million. West Virginia University is a comprehensive, land grant, and Carnegie-designated Doctoral Research/Extensive public institution, with approximately 24,000 undergraduates and 5,500 graduate students.
The Health Sciences Center includes the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Nursing; each of which has both health professional as well as graduate training programs. Morgantown has 55,000 residents and is rated as one of the best small towns in the U.S., with affordable housing, excellent schools, a picturesque countryside and many outdoor activities.
