Hematologic Malignancies Program

 

Director of Blood and Marrow Transplant / Hematologic Malignancies Program. The Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology/Oncology, and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC) seek a Director to lead our Blood & Marrow Transplant/Hematologic Malignancies Program. The successful candidate must be an MD or MD/PhD, board certified in internal medicine and hematology and/or oncology; have a track record in basic, translational and/or clinical research and a commitment to excellence in patient care and education.

The Blood and Marrow Transplant/Hematologic Malignancy Program is the only program of its kind in the State of West Virginia. The program is an NMDP transplant center and FACT accredited. On average the program performs 25 autologous and 25 allogeneic stem cell transplants per year. In addition to the transplant patients, this program takes care of all patients with hematological malignancies. Basic research strengths of the program include tumor microenvironment and transcriptional regulation in heme malignancies.

This is an exciting time to join the MBRCC, which is currently undergoing a $21 million expansion that will nearly double existing space with investment in programmatic growth of which the BMT and hematological malignancies is a priority. The cancer program is fully integrated into the institutional strategic research plan with the expansion of the WVU Health Sciences Center campus and recruitment of research and clinical faculty. The cancer center is poised for tremendous growth over the next 5 years.

MBRCC is West Virginia’s most comprehensive cancer treatment, research and education facility. It offers a multidisciplinary team approach and state-of-the-art technologies and treatments, as well as clinical trials, and a variety of education and prevention outreach programs. WVU Hospitals is a 522-bed academic patient care facility, which includes a Level 1 Trauma Center and Children's Hospital. Its affiliation with the School of Medicine assures an outstanding array of advanced technologies, as well as a collaborative academic atmosphere conducive to professional growth. The Section of Hematology /Oncology operates a fully accredited fellowship program.
