The Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center

The Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center is among the few Picture of the Robert C. Byrd Health Science Centerinstitutions nationwide that support medical, dental, nursing, and pharmacy care as well as advanced medical research and education. Through a unique combination of state and federal support, charitable contributions from individuals and foundations, and investments from private corporations, the Health Sciences Center has developed comprehensive health care and biological science programs.

Its Morgantown campus includes the following schools:

Also on the Health Sciences campus are the following clinical facilities:

Faculty, students, and clinical researchers also enjoy collaborative ties with a national laboratory for the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), adjacent to the WVU Health Sciences Center.

In addition to these facilities, WVU maintains medical divisions in Charleston and Wheeling, as well as relationships with hospitals and physicians in rural areas throughout the state. Most WVU health science students undergo part of their training at off-campus sites, where they learn the demands of rural health care first-hand.

With over 1,700 students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs, the Health Sciences Center produces a strong group of professionals to meet the state's and the nation's health care needs. The more than 10,000 alumni comprise about one-third of West Virginia's practicing physicians, two-thirds of its dentists, three-quarters of its pharmacists, and hundreds of nurses, medical and dental technologists, physical therapists, and other health professionals.
