Human Subject Protection

As of October 1, 2000, NIH requires ethics training for "key personnel" on projects involving human subjects.

WVU requires all personnel on projects involving human subjects to take a Human Participant Protections tutorial (if they have not already taken an ethics training course) prior to protocol approval. This applies even for exemptions.

The Principal Investigator on a project is responsible for ensuring that all co-investigators have received Human Participant Protections training. Please consult the WVU Office of Research Compliance for details on this training. Dr. Charles (Bob) Craig oversees research compliance. He can be reached at 293-4011.
