Medstay Program
WVU MedStay program is a student run organization designed to provide a free, convenient, and safe housing alternative for WVU School of Medicine (SOM) interviewees that choose to stay with current medical students during their visits to Morgantown. Applicants in the past have utilized the MedStay program for a number of reasons including meeting a WVU student, getting more information about the school, or to save money by not paying for a hotel room.
Staying with a WVU medical student can be a great opportunity to get an “insiders” perspective of the school and living in Morgantown. Interviewees in the past have reported being more comfortable and prepared for the interview day after staying with a current WVU student.
If you are interested in MedStay there will be more detailed information provided to those invited for an interview with WVU School of Medicine.

Are you interested in getting to know current WVU School of Medicine students during your visit to Morgantown?
Do you want to save a little money?
If you answered “YES” to either of these questions, then you may be interested in utilizing the WVU MedStay program.
WVU MedStay provides applicants the opportunity to stay overnight (free of charge) in Morgantown with current WVU School of Medicine students as an alternative to staying in a hotel. If you are interested in meeting current students in the program (2 nd, 3 rd, and 4 th year Morgantown Campus students), or in saving a few bucks, send an e-mail to WVUMedStay@gmail.com with the following information:
Name
Date(s) You Will Be in Need of Housing
Phone Number
E-mail
Gender
Marital Status
Hometown
Undergraduate College/University
Major
Special requests (vegetarian, religious concerns, etc.)
The WVU MedStay coordinators will utilize this information to match you up with a compatible, same-sex student host. MedStay will then contact you via e-mail and/or phone calls to establish the exact plans and finer details of your stay.
WVU MedStay hosts will be glad to answer any of your questions about their experiences as a medical student at WVU, but please bear in mind that the WVU MedStay program does not provide transportation to or from airports.
If you are unsure whether you would be interested in utilizing this service, or if you have any questions about the program, feel free to send us an e-mail at WVUMedStay@gmail.com. Please let us know if you would like a host ASAP, as it takes at some time to coordinate schedules and match applicants to an appropriate host.
WVU MedStay is a student-run organization, so all of your questions will be handled directly by WVU students. Therefore, any questions related to MedStay should be directed to the MedStay e-mail, rather than toward Beth Ann McCormick or the Student Services Offices.
NOTE: This is a one night only opportunity. Please do not expect to stay with the medical student for an entire weekend or more than one night. Thank you!
