American Medical Women's Association - AMWA
West Virginia University School of Medicine Chapter
AMWA Mission Statement: The American Medical Women’s Association is an organization that functions at the local, national, and international level to advance women in medicine and improve women’s health. We achieve this by providing and developing leadership, advocacy, education, expertise, mentoring, and strategic alliances.
WVU Chapter: The WVU chapter of AMWA has played a committed role in organizing lectures and discussions pertinent to the advancement of medical education, primarily focusing on issues concerning women’s health. In addition, the WVU chapter of AMWA participates in philanthropic activities to benefit the greater Morgantown area. Activities include:
- Annual lunch picnic
- WVU School of Medicine T-shirt sales
- "Careers in Medicine" Physician Panel
- Breast Cancer Awareness Month & Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October
- Annual Run for Cover 5K Run/Walk for the Bartlett House homeless shelter

Your Involvement: We look forward to your involvement throughout medical school. Suggestions of current women’s issues concerning you, your friends, and family are always welcome.
