Ophthalmology Interest Group (OIG) Mission Statement: The Ophthalmology Interest Group serves to introduce medical students to ophthalmology, disseminate information about residency programs, foster research opportunities, and inform students of subspecialties within the field of ophthalmology. By laws: Any student currently enrolled in West Virginia University School of Medicine is eligible for membership. The Ophthalmology Interest Group will meet bimonthly during the academic year, from September to April, and more often if deemed necessary by its members. The Ophthalmology Interest Group will be governed by an elected executive committee comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Officers will be elected at the final meeting of each year by the members of Ophthalmology Interest Group. The Ophthalmology Interest Group will collaborate closely with an advisor who understands the goals of the Ophthalmology Interest Group and is committed to the achievement of the aforementioned goals.
