Circa Terra ( Charleston Chapter )
“The children of Humanity are each other’s limbs.
That share an origin in their creator
When one limb passes its days in pain
The other limb cannot remain easy.
You who feel no pain at the suffering of others,
It is not fitting you be called Human” - Saadi
This poem by Saadi, a famous Iranian Poet, encompasses what Circa Terra stands for. Circa Terra is part of a global effort to help improve health care in the United States and also in developing countries. Members of Circa Terra have the opportunity to reach out to their colleagues in Charleston and also around the world. This organization collects surplus items that would have been thrown away from the CAMC hospitals, and gives the items to Health Right Clinic- a free clinic in Charleston WV and also to Global Links- a distribution center in Pittsburg. Through Global Links the items are exported to clinics and hospitals around the world that are in dire need of the equipments. In many developing countries access to medical equipments is very limited and as a result even though great health care personals are available they can not provide the best health care for their patients because of lack of resources. Through Circa Terra we hope to lessen this problem and be part of ongoing struggle to improve healthcare not only in the United States but also in other countries. We thank all of our current volunteers and encourage other volunteers to join.
"Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and the most inhumane." Martin Luther King
