FAMILY HAPPENINGS:
CONGRATULATIONS to Shaam Qazi and his wife, on the birth of their son, Farasat who was born on Friday, July 5th at 7:40 am at 7 lbs. Both mother and baby are doing fine, however, papa has an ulcer the size of Montana.

THIRD YEAR GRADES still coming in (honors). DO NOT REQUEST WVU TRANSCRIPTS until advised by this Office.
ERAS: Please stop by the Student Services Office for your ERAS Token ID and booklet. The opening date to enter ERAS is Monday, July 15, 2002.
DEAN'S LETTERS (Medical Student Performance Evaluation): Begin scheduling these even now for August or September.
GETTING TO RESIDENCY PART 2 - THE INTERVIEW: RSVP this email if you wish to register for one of the two Morgantown sessions, August 27, 3-5 p.m.; October 10, 3-5 p.m. Remember to tell us your chosen residency.

The Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) of Charleston will be hosting the following activities:
July 26-28, 2002 - The Family Medicine Residents of Charleston are hosting a Retreat at Summersville Lake and has invited members of the FMIG to participate. If there are enough interested most likely the WVU van can be used so all can travel together. Contact Kelly Fritts in the Departmnet of Family Medicine at 347-4606 or efritts@hsc.wvu.edu if you are interested no later than Friday, July 19th.
August 27, 2002 (tentative date) - The Family Medicine Interest Group will be hosting an Alley Cats Baseball Game. If you are interested, contact kelly by August 1st, so that tickets can be ordered.
If anyone has ideas on lectures, workshops or activities, please do not hesitate in letting Kelly know. The FMIG is very open to your ideas.
Pediatric and Adolescent Interest Group of Charleston will be hosting the following activity:
July 20, 2002 - There will be a summer picnic at noon in Shelter #11 at Coonskin Park. Come network with other medical students, pediatric residents and faculty. There will be a door prize and discussion of future gatherings.
Internal Medicine Interest Group of Charleston will be hosting the following activity:
July 25, 2002 - There will be an "Organizational Meeting" in Room 2000 of the WVU Building at 6:00 pm. Munchies will be available!
Research Lunch and Learn will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at noon. It will be broadcast live from the WVU Building Room 2000 to General Rooms 101 and 102 and also to the Women & Children's Boardroom. The topic will be "IRB (Institutional Review Board) 101" with John Linton, PhD, IRB Chairperson and Beth Chiparo, MS, Research Coordinator. Lunch will be provided at ALL broadcast locations. Please RSVP to 388-9960.
AOA MEMBERS ONLY: The Wednesday, August 28, 2002 election at 5:00 pm will be held in 3290 of the WVU Building via teleconference with the Morgantown campus members.

Community Service Opportunities:
Help is needed with the HSTA (Health Services Technology Academy) Hand-On Nights for July 16 from 6-8 PM in the HSC Cafeteria . We expect about 115 students. We will have a medical table and will be teaching simple suturing technique. These HSTA students will be 9th and 10th graders. Community service - 2 hours. Contact Dr. Cather at acather@hsc.wvu.edu
