TETANUS SUPPLY has been restored. Go to your health provider for your booster if it has been 10 years or more since your last dose. Bring your proof of immunization to Brenda Michael in Morgantown and Judy Newhouse in Charleston for the processing of an updated immunization card.

MS 4/Class of 2003:
GETTING TO RESIDENCY PART 2 August 27 registration will be closed Friday, August 2nd. If you are interested (also Charleston students) in participating in this session, reply to the email and note your speciality of choice.

MS 3/Class of 2004:
USMLE STEP 1: Please be respectful of your classmates during these stress-filled days. Remember that the USMLE mails individual scores on Wednesday for receipt Friday/Saturday. The Morgantown/Charleston Office of Student Services will contact students as necessary by the end of the day. A class email will also be sent updating you on the last posting date to help you anticipate delivery of your scores.


MS 2/Class of 2005:
PEER ADVISORS for MSI Orientation will be receiving a letter, along with name of advisee(s) in home mail this week. This information will be sent in mail tomorrow. If you have any questions, please contact Carol Kurcaba at ckurcaba@hsc.wvu.edu


Community Service Opportunities:
VOLUNTEERS needed for Golf Tournament: Here’s your chance to join in the fight against breast cancer and experience a professional golf tournament. Volunteers, knowledgeable about golf, are needed to help at the Betty Puskar Futures Golf Classic at the Pines Country Club in Morgantown, August 5-11. Each volunteer will receive a free golf shirt embossed with the tournament logo. For more info call Jamie Miller at 293-0518.

OFFICE OF STUDENT SERVICES CLOSED:July 17, 2002. If you need to contact Dr. Griffith his pager is 341-1500.

PAGER GREETING: If you need assistance to add/delete/change the greeting on your pager contact the Office of Student Services for further instructions.

AFTER HOURS STUDY ROOM is located in Room 2000 of the WVU Building. The room will be available until 1:00 AM. Access after 1AM must be requested from a security guard. The room is equipped with 3 ports for laptop connectivity. The workstation located in room 3079 which is equipped with a computer and printer also accommodates the p-counter program and is available 24/7.

FAMILY MEDICINE INTEREST GROUP (FMIG) of Charleston will be hosting the following activities:
July 26-28, 2002 - The Family Medicine Residents of Charleston are hosting a Retreat at Summersville Lake and has invited members of the FMIG to participate. If there are enough interested most likely the WVU van can be used so all can travel together. Contact Kelly Fritts in the Department of Family Medicine at 347-4606 or efritts@hsc.wvu.edu if you are interested no later than Friday, July 19th.

August 27, 2002 (tentative date) - The Family Medicine Interest Group will be hosting an Alley Cats Baseball Game. If you are interested, contact kelly by August 1st, so that tickets can be ordered.

If anyone has ideas on lectures, workshops or activities, please do not hesitate in letting Kelly know. The FMIG is very open to your ideas.

PEDIATRIC AND ADOLESCENT MEDICINE INTEREST GROUP of Charleston will be hosting the following activity: July 20, 2002 - There will be a summer picnic at noon in Shelter #11 at Coonskin Park. Come network with other medical students, pediatric residents and faculty. There will be a door prize and discussion of future gatherings. Please RSVP to Beverly Hager at 388-1541.

INTERNAL MEDICINE INTEREST GROUP of Charleston will be hosting the following activity: July 25, 2002 - There will be an "Organizational Meeting" in Room 2000 of the WVU Building at 6:00 pm. Munchies will be available!

RESEARCH LUNCH AND LEARN will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at noon. It will be broadcast live from the WVU Building Room 2000 to General Rooms 101 and 102 and also to the Women & Children's Boardroom. The topic will be "IRB (Institutional Review Board) 101" with John Linton, PhD, IRB Chairperson and Beth Chiparo, MS, Research Coordinator. Lunch will be provided at ALL broadcast locations. Please RSVP to 388-9960.

WVU/CAMC SUMMER RESEARCH EXTERNSHIP PRESENTATION PROGRAM: Saturday, July 27, 2002 9:00 am - 12:30 pm WVU Auditorium. Medical students from WVU and Marshall Universities are among the 12 presenters who conclude their six-week research projects.

MS4/ CLASS OF 2004:
ERAS TOKEN and applicant manual are available in the Office of Student Services. The token is required to access MyERAS, the residency application workarea available on the WWW.

PROMETRIC TESTING CENTER: A site visit to the testing center located at 1104 Fledderjohn Road in Ashton Place received approval from the Office of Student Services to accommodate USMLE Step 2 testing. The Center's new location is supported by new staff and equipment.
