NOTICES:
HEALTH INSURANCE RENEWAL: If your major medical coverage is through the University policy remember to submit a renewal for the 2003-2003 academic year. The company does not send renewal notices; you must complete a form. Morgantown students can pick-up renewal forms at Student Health. Charleston students can pick-up renewal forms at Student Services.
HEALTH INSURANCE REPORTING SITE: A form has been created on your personal demographic page (not through SOLE) for reporting your current Health Insurance Information. EVEN IF YOU GAVE US A COPY OF YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE CARD, update this report ASAP. This form will be a required update every year. Students are under the Integrity Policy for correct information.
COMMUNITY SERVICE SITE MERGER of the new SOLE site and the old Demographic site is not yet complete. We will keep you posted.
STUDENT SERVICES CLOSED: Monday, September 2nd the Charleston and Morgantown Office of Student Services will be closed in observance of the Labor Day Holiday.
USE OF STUDENT SERVICES FACILITY: Please be aware that the fax, phones and copier in Student Services can only be used by students for official class business or in the event of an emergency. The business of the office, the number of students we serve, and the current budget cuts preclude us from making these systems available for personal use. Thank you for working with us in this regard.

CIRCA TERRA (CT), the international medical salvage organization at WVU HSC, would like to extend a warm invitation to everyone to join us for a sorting and packing session on Thursday, August 29 at 5:00 PM. TOUCHDOWN CITY FAN FEST set for Aug. 30; features chance to win $100,000 Take aim Mountaineer football fans. West Virginia University and The Dominion Post are "throwing" a party. It's the sixth annual "Welcome to Touchdown City" Fan Fest on Friday, Aug. 30, at 7:30 p.m. on the Mountainlair Plaza, featuring Mountaineer Head Coach Rich Rodriguez, the 2002 senior players and a chance for 10 lucky people to each win $100,000. The free public event, sponsored by The Dominion Post, the Mountaineer Maniacs and the WVU Student Government Association (SGA), is traditionally held the night before the home opener. 9/11 REMEMBRANCE: 'We Remember' is theme for WVU, City 9-11 commemorative activities
West Virginia University will join with the City of Morgantown and community service agencies to remember the first anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a host of solemn activities ranging from a sunset candlelight vigil in Woodburn Circle to an afternoon tree planting near a Memorial Wall outside the Downtown Campus Library. 9/11 IS A "DAY OF SPECIAL CONCERN": Dr. Rosemary Haggett, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, has posted a memo to the intranet reminding instructional staff about the WVU policy regarding "Days of Special Concern.." MED PUB CLASS AVAILABLE: The Orientation program this year did not provide time for a "Pub Med" computer course. Students have previously found this training valuable during their medical school career as they work through various research processes. Pub Med relates to other databases from the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Health. The Computer-Based Learning Center is offering two courses this fall that fit well into your official schedule: Friday, October 25 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. or Thursday, November 14, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. If you wish to register, call 293-6128 (CBLC) between the hours of 9 and 12, Monday through Friday.

External Announcements:
2003 INTERNATIONAL HEALTH EXPEDITIONS' SCHEDULE: Himalayan Health Exchange and Office of 'Health Care Program For Tibetans in Ladakh' will organize the following medical/dental camps in the remote Himalayan regions of Indo-Tibetan Borderlands, North India and Nepal in 2003. Participation for all expeditions is open to: - Physicians, Dentists, Nurses and medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy and P.A. students. Each trip is designed to provide care to approximately 1200 underserved patients and an opportunity for international health exposure to participants. Participation on each trip is limited to 18. Participants will work alongside physicians and dentists in non-traditional clinical set-ups. Participants are responsible for arranging their own funding to cover trip cost and must be willing to put in a minimum of 6-8 hours of clinical work, each day, for seven days straight on each camp. The 2003 Schedule is attached.
