CLASS OF 2005 IS SELLING LONG SLEEVE T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS: Long Sleeve T's ($17.00) and Sweatshirts ($25.00). The shirts are the same design as those sold last year. All shirts have the WV symbol with West Virginia University (one line) School of Medicine (second line) beside the graphic. Underneath the School of Medicine you can put anything you choose (ex. Grandma, Dad, Aunt, Sister, etc.). There are samples of both styles in the Student Services office if you would like to see them. Both styles come in two color combinations: Blue on Grey or Gold on Blue. Please send Anne Banfield, MS2, abanfie3@mix.wvu.edu, your order by 12:00 am on Thursday night (Nov. 21, 2002). AMWA: The American Medical Women's Assoc. offers a number of student benefits to women medical students. (Medical Education Loans, Community Service Scholarship, Research Paper Award, Mentoring Award, Bed and Breakfast Program). DISTINGUISHED TEACHING FACULTY AWARD: Nominations are being accepted through December 13, 2002 for the School of Medicine Distinguished Teacher Award. For further information please go to SOLE, SOM Faculty Awards, then click Criteria located on left hand side of page.
UPDATE DEMOGRAPHIC: Student Services is updating the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) database. This requires a download of information from your demographic. Please update all of your demographic information as soon as possible, especially your home address.
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS: - The Offices of Student Services will be closed for the Holidays Wednesday, November 27 thru Sunday, December 1st. MS1's will be office after their exam

What's Happening this Week - Morgantown:
REGISTRATION: All parking, library, bursar's restrictions should be cleared by Wednesday, 5:00 p.m., to avoid Spring Registration Restriction.
NEW HSC SIGNAGE POLICY: The HSC has issued a new policy for the posting of signs in the building. See attached. Please note: If you wish to post a paper sign announcing an event/organizational meeting, etc., they can only be posted on the secured or unsecured bulletin boards around the HSC. All others will be taken down. If you wish to post an announcement on the secured bulletin board, please bring it to Carol Kurcaba in Student Services. Questions, ckurcaba@hsc.wvu.edu .

BLOOD DRIVE: Will be held Monday, Nov. 25, 2002 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in John Jones 1, 2 and 3. Please call 598-4118 to schedule an appointment. All who donate entered into raffle for $100 grocery store gift certificate; drawing held Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. Two hours of community service hours are approved for each donation.
AOA FOOD DRIVE: To benefit the Salvation Army. This will be held outside the Bookstore from Noon-1:00 p.m.., Monday through Friday, November 11-22, 2002. If you are interested in community service hours. NOTE: If you are collecting donations of food and need a place for storage please see Carol in Student Services. There is a supply room available if needed. You will need to take the donations to the supply room.

DEC. GRADUATION: If you are planning on attending the graduation ceremony on Friday, December 6, 2002 at the WVU Coliseum, you need to contact Eloise Tomei at 293-8024 or 293-8029. It is important to RSVP for this event in order for you to be recognized during the ceremony. Although reservations are required to formulate a guest list, there will be no actual tickets for this event and no restrictions on the number of guests invited. To order caps and gowns, please call Alicia Cayton at the WVU Bookstore at 293-7464. Or if you want to borrow a cap and gown from Student Services, you need to contact Carol Kurcaba, SoM Student Services at 293-4961. If you borrow a cap and gown from SoM Student Services, you will need to return these items to us no later than Friday, December 13, 2002.
MATCH REGISTRATION DEADLINE is fast approaching. After December 1st a $50.00 late fee will be assessed.
MS 2/Class of 2005:
SUMMER INSTITUTE ON ADDITION TREATMENT: The Caron Foundation offers a one-week Institute for medical students on addiction treatment for alcoholic and drug dependent patients; June 2-6, 2003, Wernersville, PA. KAPLAN orders have been placed. Books and membership cards will arrive prior to the Winter Holidays.

RESEARCH LUNCH AND LEARN: Wednesday, November 20, noon. Topic: "Ethical Status Study: Physician-Patient Communication and Patient Rights," presented by Paul Hall, PhD., Greg Rosencrance, M.D. and Greg Clarke, M.D. It may be viewed in Rooms 101 and 102 at General, the Board Room at W&C's and by "live" lecture in Room 2000 of the WVU Building next door to Memorial. MS 3/Class of 2004:
PATHWAY EVALUATION PROGRAM: Wednesday, December 4, 9 am until 2:00 pm, 4th floor WVU Building. Come by the Office of Student Services to pick up your Briefing Document that must be filled out prior to the beginning of the workshop . Your course coordinator has been advised that you will be attending and are to be excused from rotation.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY: Dr. Brooks Gainer, a Morgantown internist and infectious disease specialist, is looking for a student to work with him on a research project. This would involve clinical chart reviews and data entry into a national register. The student can set his/her own schedule and even work on weekends. This can be a means of earning some extra income. please contact him at 216-0665.
