FAMILY HAPPENINGS:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WVU! WVU turns 136 years old Friday, Feb. 7. The University was founded in 1867 as a land-grant institution and is one of only 46 public universities to serve in this capacity.

NOTICES:
STATE OF THE SCHOOL ADDRESS: Please plan to attend the State of the School of Medicine Address to be given by Dr. D'Alessandri this Thursday, February 6 from 5:00 to 6:30pm in the HSC Auditorium. Recipients of the Dean's Awards for Excellence will be announced. A reception will follow in the Pylon Lobby. Campus Connections: Charleston HSC Auditorium; Harper's Ferry Family Medicine Conference Room.

"THE IMPACT OF BIOTERRORISM ON RESEARCH ETHICS": All are invited to the Wilhelm S. Albrink Memorial Lecture in Bioethics, Thursday, February 20, 12 Noon, HSC Auditorium. See attached details below.

TALENT SHOW: Thanks to all the students who organized the Talent Show, bake sale, silent auction on Sat., Feb. 1. The Health Sciences Center has a large group of talented medical students! Everyone involved did a wonderful job.

GRADUATION NOTICE: If you have not turned in your graduation forms for your tam, family hooder or diploma along with your check for you tam and diploma. You must do so by Wed., Feb. 5 at the very latest! We need head measurements as well unless you know your hat size. Someone in the office can take your measurements if needed.

MS1 SNOWBALL: Saturday, February 15, 2003 at Lakeview Resort, Chestnut Rooms, Reception begins at 6:30 p.m. dinner at 7:30, dance at 9:00 p.m. with Loray Robinson from WVAQ. Make check payable to UHA - $15.00 per person and must be received no later than Wed., Feb. 12. Also, if you are planning to attend - you must RSVP on the demographic page!

MSI FIELD TRIP: Friday, March 14, 2003, depart on buses from the Coliseum Blue Gate at 7:30 a.m. If you are planning on driving - please note that there is limited parking. Also, you must let Carol Kurcaba by know that you plan on driving and/or going down with someone, please email Carol at ckurcaba@hsc.wvu.edu. If you change you mind and decide to take the bus - Carol will also need that information as well. We need to know who will be riding the bus so we don't forget someone.

You must be available the entire week and have an interest in learning and growing by helping others, and be able to work hard and have fun at the same time! No experience is required. Interested? MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY CAMP: The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is preparing for its summer camp sessions for the year 2003. MDA is now recruiting volunteers for their services as camp counselors. The 2003 MDA Summer Camp will be held at Cedar Lakes in Ripley, WV from June 22-27. See attached.
