CONGRATULATIONS: The HSC Talent Show was a big success. The amount raised for WVU Children's Hospital is $1,900.00. Thank you to all the students, who organized the event.

CRITICAL BLOOD DRIVE: Due to recent winter storms, the potential to collect more than 900 units of blood in our local area only produced 41 units. This has created a "critical" need for all types of blood donations. The American Red Cross will hold a critical blood drive on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at John Jones 1, 2, 3 in the Health Sciences Center. No appointment will be necessary. Walk-ins are encouraged. Please plan on giving the gift of life.

LAPTOP WARRANTY EXPIRES: Just a reminder that the warranty coverage on your ThinkPad A21 laptop expires May 31, 2003. If you have any open laptop issues that may involve warranty, please make arrangements to visit the Help Desk soon. The insurance coverage on your laptop is effective through June 30, 2003. If you have questions, please call our Help Desk at 293-3631.

MS 1/Class of 2006:
MSI FIELD TRIP: Friday, March 14, 2003, depart on buses from the Coliseum Blue Gate at 7:30 a.m. If you are planning on driving - please note that there is limited parking. Also, you must let Carol Kurcaba by know that you plan on driving and/or going down with someone, please email Carol at ckurcaba@hsc.wvu.edu. If you change you mind and decide to take the bus - Carol will also need that information as well. We need to know who will be riding the bus so we don't forget someone.

June 14 - 20, 2003, Cedar Lakes, WV (near Ripley, WV) Great opportunity for students majoring in PT, OT, Education, Nursing, Medicine, Rec Therapy & Rehab. You must be available the entire week and have an interest in learning and growing by helping others, and be able to work hard and have fun at the same time! No experience is required. Interested? MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY CAMP: The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is preparing for its summer camp sessions for the year 2003. MDA is now recruiting volunteers for their services as camp counselors. The 2003 MDA Summer Camp will be held at Cedar Lakes in Ripley, WV from June 22-27. See attached. CRIMES AGAINST NATURE: Wednesday, February 26, 9pm in the Ballroom - a presentation by Chris Kilmartin called Crimes Against Nature. Chris is a professor, psychologist, and stand -up comedian! He makes fun of himself and the absurdities and contradictions of growing up male in America. He is FUNNY and he gets to the point! This is a great presentation for any students with interests in Sexual Assault Prevention, Gender issues, or really most of the Social Sciences. See attached.
