FAMILY HAPPENINGS:
OUR PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS go out to Randy Curl, Class of 2003, his wife Negail, and their son Jason, as Negail departs next week for overseas. We also extend our continued wishes to Melissa Porco, Class of 2005, as her husband Jason Moody, is deployed overseas.

WE WISH TO EXTEND CONDOLENCES to Marc Frankenberry, Class of 2003, on the recent death of his sister.

TO ALL STUDENTS RE: NEXT WEEK'S SCHEDULE: The Office of Student Services will be busy handling the Match Scramble Monday afternoon, Tuesday and Wednesday. Out of respect for all concerned, please keep communication through this office to email and phone during these dates. NOTICE TO ALL STUDENTS:
HIPAA Training Online: Please see HIPAA CBL.doc attachment. This is MANDATORY for all MD and MD/PhD students. Training/testing must be completed by April 10. All students who do not comply will relinquish their contact with patients and their research.

MORGANTOWN BLOOD DRIVES IN MARCH: Wednesday, March 19, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., HSC, John Jones Conference Room, appointments only. Please call 598-4095.

SEELINGER SCHOLARSHIP: Three $4000 scholarships are awarded each year. Applicants must be residents of WV; pursuing a M.D. degree in the School of Medicine; be in good academic and professional standing and a full-time second, third or fourth year students by the fall of 2003. Qualifications include: demonstrated entrepreneurial instincts and abilities; demonstrated acceptance of an adherence to the work ethic; demonstrated strong academic promise through past performance; shall be expected to express written appreciation to the donors upon receiving a scholarship and shall be required to provide in writing a progress report to the donors prior to a renewal of a scholarship. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office, Room G111 HSN. Extended application deadline is Monday, March 17, 2003.

SCHOLARS IN CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE AND STROKE: The Scientific Councils of the American Heart Assoc. Stipend is $2,000. Applications must be received by March 31, 2003. Stop by Student Service Office for Scholarships to get more information.

SCHOOL ON ALCOHOLISM AND OTHER DRUG DEPENDENCIES: Physicians Section of the 52nd Annual Session of the University of Utah being held the week of June 15, 2003. Scholarship assistance includes $390 in tuition, $125 housing allowance and up to $350 in travel. For more information stop by to view the Scholarships Book in Student Services.

REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER 1, 2, AND FALL will soon take place on the Morgantown and Charleston campuses. Resolve any restrictions ASAP!

EPOCRATES Rx PRO: We are in the process of obtaining discount codes for 50% off the usual annual subscription cost of $49.99 for students interested in having this program. It contains the free Epocrates version as well as a pharmacopoeia of alternative medications, guidelines for the treatment of infectious diseases, clinical tables (e.g. ACLS protocols, treatment of hypertension, narcotic equivalents, insulin comparisons, OCP hormonal activity, etc.) and a calculator with over 30 of the most common formulae for palmheld computers. We will let you know when the codes are available..

Please know that we cannot guarantee that you will receive your gown, hood, tam and diploma in time for graduation since we have not received your forms and payment. MORGANTOWN THIRD YEAR STUDENTS: We are giving you a limited opportunity to make internal, body-for-body swaps of rotations for next year's schedule. Both students involved in the swap must come in person to see Pam Carico and sign-off on the schedule. No swaps can be accepted after April 1st. The schedule will be sent out to the class by the end of the week.

CHARLESTON THIRD YEAR STUDENTS: Please continue to work through Charissa for changes to your schedule. An opportunity for internal, body-for-body swaps will occur in the near future.

MSI FIELD TRIP: Friday, March 14, 2003, Parking at Coliseum closest to Arboretum. Arrival for registration 7:10 a.m. Depart on buses from the Blue Gate at 7:30 a.m. If you are planning on driving - please note that there is limited parking. Also, you must let Carol Kurcaba by know that you plan on driving and/or going down with someone, please email Carol at ckurcaba@hsc.wvu.edu. If you change you mind and decide to take the bus - Carol will also need that information as well. We need to know who will be riding the bus so we don't forget someone!

SUMMER COACHING OPPORTUNITY: A local middle school is looking for basketball coaches for their summer league. This is an excellent opportunity to serve the community.
