FAMILY HAPPENINGS:
NEW BABY: Dale Santrock, Class of 2004, and his wife Lori would like to announce the delivery of their second child and first son, Samuel Thomas Santrock. He was born Thursday, May 8th and weighed 7lb 5oz. Mother, baby, and sister Anna are doing great and dad is still having trouble deciding what to do with all his free time.

NOTICES:
VOLUNTEERS FOR INVESTITURE: Student Services would like some student volunteers to help with the clean up/set up of chairs in the rec center following the investiture ceremony. This will be on Sat., May 17. If you are interested please contact Carol Kurcaba in Student Services at 293-4961 or email at ckurcaba@hsc.wvu.edu.

ALL STUDENTS CONSIDERING RESEARCH: There are two HIPAA requirements necessary to participate in patient related research, "HIPAA Training for Research Teams" and "Human Participants Protections (Ethics) Training". http://www.wvu.edu/~rc/irb/index.htm Upon completion print your confirmation and bring to Student Services for your student file. Contact Student Services if you have questions.

STEP 2 APPLICATIONS: Remember to have handy your USMLE ID # when you go on line for your Step 2 application www.nbme.org . You will find this on your Step 1 score report (this should be somewhere safe). We mail out applications the 1st and 15th of each month.... Thursday noon will be the next mailing.

MORGANTOWN HEALTH RIGHT: Is moving into their new building and they need some strong medical students to help them with their move. Are you interested? An hour for an hour in community service hours! OFFICE OF STUDENT SERVICES CLOSED Friday, May 16 to attend graduation activities in Morgantown.

RESEARCH LUNCH AND LEARN: Wednesday, May 21, noon. Topic: " Recruitment Issues in Clinical Trials," presented by Philip Walson, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Clinical Trials, University of Cincinnati. It may be viewed in Rooms 101 and 102 at General, the 3rd floor Conference Room at W&C's and by "live" lecture in Room 2000 of the WVU Building next door to Memorial. RSVP to 388-9960 to be included in the lunch count. Lunch will be provided at all sites.
