FAMILY HAPPENINGS:
NEW POSITION: Former SOM Dean John Prescott has been appointed as the chief academic officer at the AAMC. He will oversee the continuum of medical education, and work with all SOM Deans across the country. The AAMC represents all 129 US and 17 Canadian medical schools, plus 400 teaching hospitals. We wish him well in his new position.
CONGRATULATIONS Lisa Go, Class of 2011, on her recent engagement to Matthew Spencer, HSC Information Systems Operations.

FALL REGISTRATION: ALL STUDENTS must register through MIX by July 15 as per the class emails sent the past few weeks. See attachment with courses for all levels all campuses. Contact your Student Services Office if you have any questions.
FALL INVOICES will be posted online approximately July 25th. Payments are only accepted online. Watch for further notices.
EVENTS:
The WVU's Center of Excellence in Women's Health will be holding their second "Women in Wellness Retreats" on July 26 at Heston Farm in Fairmont. Students are needed for: helping to develop educational modules and/or volunteering to help at the retreat. Community hours are available for this (hour for hour). You are also welcome to attend (no service hours for this). Please contact Ms. Betty Critch at 293-2895 if you are interested.

What's Happening This Week - Charleston:
Second Circa Terra Meeting (CHANGE IN DATE) -The new meeting time is July 8th at 6pm in the fourth floor of WVU building. This meeting is meant to introduce third year medical students to Circa Terra and provide an introduction to third year rotations. Maryam is going to talk about each rotation and offer some advice about what books to buy, how to study etc. Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP by e- mailing Maryam Jame at mjame@mix.wvu.edu. MS3/Class of 2009:
Tumor Board- July 10th, City Hospital 8th floor- Canceled.
Mini-week orientation schedules will be distributed this week. Students will spend one week with each of their assigned preceptors. If you have any questions about your schedule, please stop in to the Student Services office.
BLS Class- Wed. July 9 4:00-8:00pm at City Hospital (Mandatory) 8th floor classroom. Be sure to pick up your text book this week.
ACLS Class- Sat. July 19 and Sun. July 20 at Jefferson Memorial(Mandatory)
AHEC Picnic -Thursday, July 17, 6-8:00pm
Family Orientation Program Postponed until September. Please be advised that due to a conflict with ACLS and another meeting, the Family Orientation scheduled for July 18th 12:00-4:00pm, will be rescheduled to Friday in September. The new date has to be confirmed.
There have been several questions regarding hospital call and the schedule. The regular call schedule will begin on Aug. 4th, however students will be urged to spend one or two call nights with each of their preceptors and some of the MSIV’s that are rotating at the hospital during the four mini-weeks of the concentrated clerkship.
Friday Education Schedule- This Friday is July 4th, There is no Friday Education and no call this weekend.
Concentrated Clerkships begin this week. Please review your doctors office location and were you are to report on Monday morning.
