CONGRATULATIONS Derrel Walker, MD/PhD student, and wife Kim, on the birth of their son, Grant D. Walker, June 18th; 8 lb 2 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. Mother, baby, and both big sisters, are doing well.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS wishing to present their Organization to the Class of 2012 may do so by participating in the MS1 Orientation Friday, August 15, 8:00 - 11:30 am, and/or submitting handout information. Complete the attached and return to this address by August 4th.
EVENTS:
The WVU's Center of Excellence in Women's Health will be holding their second "Women in Wellness Retreats" on July 26 at Heston Farm in Fairmont. Students are needed for: helping to develop educational modules and/or volunteering to help at the retreat. Community hours are available for this (hour for hour). You are also welcome to attend (no service hours for this). Please contact Ms. Betty Critch at 293-2895 if you are interested.
FIRST YEAR ORIENTATION, CLASS OF 2012: August 11-August 16. Watch for these new members to the School of Medicine.

Eastern Panhandle Medical Society Meeting- Wed., August 13, Bavarian Inn, Shepherdstown. Dr. Jacques will be introducing all the new MSIII students. Please plan on attending.
Morbidity and Mortality Conference- (M&M) Friday, Aug. 8, 8:00am at City Hospital. Two Cushing Students will be assigned for presentation.

Please be advised that due to a conflict with ACLS,the Parent and Spouse Orientation-scheduled for July 18th 12:00-4:00pm, has been rescheduled to Friday September 5th. Please let your families and spouses aware of the new date.
There have been several questions regarding hospital call and the schedule. The regular call schedule will begin on Aug. 4th, however students will be urged to spend one or two call nights with each of their preceptors and some of the MSIV’s that are rotating at the hospital during the four mini-weeks of the concentrated clerkship.
Call schedules will be discussed at Friday Education.
