EVENTS:
ICE CREAM SOCIAL: The HSC Student Council is sponsoring a free ice cream social for students enrolled in any HSC degree program, on Thursday, August 28th from 11:30 to 1 in the learning center commons.
WVU NEWMAN CLUB: Invites all students to two weekly events: Catholic Mass at Noon on Wednesday in JEJ Conference Center, and Dinner-for-A-Dollar on Thursdays at 6 PM in Potters Cellar on the main campus.

What's Happening this Week - Morgantown:

The first Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 27 at noon in room 2118. RSVPs for lunch were needed by Friday, but those who did not RSVP are welcome to attend the meeting as well. Also, first years who are not out of PBL until 12:30, are encouraged to come in late. The subject of the talk that will be given by Dr. Deci, FMIG faculty adviser, is "You might be a family physician if..."
The Emergency Medicine Interest Group will be meeting Tuesday, Sept 9, for a hands-on Airway Management workshop. There will be a presentation followed by intubation practice on dummies. Please RSVP to emig@gmail.com .
MS 4/Class of 2009:
MS4 STUDENTS NEEDED TO SUPERVISE MS2 PPD ADMINISTRATION: School Service available for this project. Friday, September 12, 2:30-4 pm. If you are available, please RSVP this email.
GTR 3 - THE INTERVIEW: is set on the Morgantown Campus Mon, Oct 13, 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Information will be presented on interviewing skills, and mock interviews will be set-up with faculty in areas similar to your chosen field. Students from all Campus' are invited to participate. An October date on the Charleston Campus will soon be posted. RSVP via this email, specify this date as well as your desired residency program. One week prior to the program you will be required to submit to our office a CV and Personal Statement.
MATCH REGISTRATION: Applicant registration for the 2009 Main Residency Match opens at 12:00 noon eastern time on Friday, August 15, 2008. To register for the 2009 Match, login to www.nrmp.org , click on the Register/Login button at the top of the screen. THIS PROCESS IS IN ADDITION TO YOUR ERAS. You must be in BOTH systems to successfully secure a residency position.
MERLIN TRAINING: Merlin goes live January 17. Training dates are being set between November 17 and January 17 for your registration. Watch for notices with the specifics for MS4 students. This will be a 7 hour session; e-courses required prior to the training. Watch for further details.
MS 3/Class of 2010:
WELCOME TO BLOCK 2!
CLINICAL SKILLS WORKSHOP scheduled for Monday, September 22nd. ATTENDANCE REQUIRED. Laptop fees will be collected at that time.
MERLIN TRAINING: Plans are being made for your Merlin Training Monday, November 17, as the Block 3 Clinical Skills Workshop. This will be a 7 hour session; dinner provided; e-courses required prior to the training. Watch for further details.
MS 2/ Class of 2011:

Health Sciences Scholarship Program (HSSP)
HSSP, established by the WV Legislature in 1995, provides a scholarship incentive for students in the state's higher education system to complete their training and provide primary care in underserved rural areas of West Virginia. If interested, packets are available in Student Services.

Sign up for Dinner with the Dean- You and your guest are invited to have Dinner with Dr and Mrs. Jacques at their home in September. The sign-up sheets for one of three dates will be posted in the large classroom. The dates for the dinners are Sun. Sept. 14, Thursday, Sept. 17th and Sunday, Sept. 21st. There is a limit of 8 people per evening. Deadline for sign up is Sept 5th for the first evening.
Family Orientation- All RSVP's for students and their families must be turned in to Michelle at 264-9202 by Wednesday, August 27th.
If you have not had your picture taken or picked up your scan key at the Wellness Center, you will be denied access to the gym facilities. Please stop by the front counter and have these items taken care of.

Mid-Term Schedule switches-
Please be advised that students will be switching preceptors beginning Sept. 15th. You will receive your schedules a week prior. Students will be asked to deliver their evaluation forms to the preceptors that they are leaving during the week of Sept. 8-12th.
