WARNING TO ALL STUDENTS - BE ADVISED that students are NOT permitted to download copyrighted material from the WVU Network. (any licensed software, movies, music, videos, etc.). This policy is outlined in your HSC student computer Program Information Policy and Procedures Manual, part of the contract by you upon acceptance to Medical School. Violators will be disciplined and appropriate action taken by, but not limited to, the School of Medicine.

CLEAN OUT OUR MAILBOXES: The HSC Post Office is asking that you clean out your HSC mail box as soon as possible. The Post Office will be relocating in the next few weeks and everything that is left in your mail box will be thrown away. If you have forgotten what your mail box number is, it is located on your SOLE demographic page.

The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology's 2009 Annual Meeting is being held in Washington, DC, March 13-17. As a part of the meeting, the AAAAI will host a program focused on Medical Students. The Chrysalis Project is designed for those interested in allergy, asthma, and immunology. The first meeting for AMWA (American Medical Women's Association), is having its first meeting as a picnic! It will be held Thursday, September 11, at Noon. We will be dining outside (weather permitting) in the picnic area outside the library/atrium. Please RSVP to wvuamwa@gmail.com by Wednesday, September 10th!

The Christian Medical and Dental Association would like to invite everyone to a mini-conference on Medical Missions on Saturday, September 13, 10.30AM - 3PM in JEJ Conference Room B. Dr. Bruce Steffes, MD, CEO of Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons will be speaking on challenges of Medical Missions and Cross-Culture Ministry. The Family Medicine Interest Group will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at noon. Dr. Deci will be giving a presentation on MUSHROOM. A future e-mail will announce the location. Please RSVP to lstiles1@mix.wvu.edu by Friday if you would like lunch.

The Family Medicine Interest Group would like to invite all medical students to a picnic on Friday, September 19th at 5:30 PM at Krepps Park. The Integrative Medicine Interest Group will hold its first meeting next Wednesday, Sept 17th in rm 1909 at noon. MSI's are welcome to show late, after PBL. Elections will be held, as well as discussions for future CAM presenters. There will also be a brief presentation on a new wellness project for the spring. PSIG MEETING: The Psychiatry Student Interest Group (PSIG) will hold its first meeting on Thursday, September 11 at 12:00 PM in Room 1909. Dr. Fidler will be speaking about psychiatry as a career including the various sub-specialties. The meeting will also serve as a time to talk about the future goals and activities of the group."

GRADUATION CONFIRMATION DATE FOR MAY FROM THE UNIVERSITY: Saturday, May 16, 2009, Creative Arts Center

HEALTH SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Award: $20,000. Fourth year students who are planning on entering primary care internships or residency programs (Family Medicine, General Pediatrics, General Internal Medicine, Med-Peds, OB/GYN, and General Psychiatry) in WV are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Please see Brenda Michael, Office of Student Services, for application packets. Application Deadline: October 15, 2008.

MERLIN TRAINING: Hold selected dates your calendars for MS4 training being set prior to the January 17 Go Live date. Options include: Monday, November 24, Friday, December 5, Monday, December 8 and Friday, January 9. These will be 7 hour sessions beginning at 7 am. Registration will be available at a later date online through Ruby Net Learning. We will keep you posted on the details.

GTR 3 - THE INTERVIEW: is set on the Morgantown Campus Mon, Oct 13, 2:00 - 5:00 pm. RSVP via this email, specify desired residency program.

Sign up for Dinner with the Dean- You and your guest are invited to have Dinner with Dr and Mrs. Jacques at their home in September. The sign-up sheets for one of three dates will be posted in the large classroom. The dates for the dinners are Sun. Sept. 14, Thursday, Sept. 17th and Sunday, Sept. 21st. There is a limit of 8 people per evening. Deadline for sign up is Sept 5th for the first evening.

Students will be switching preceptors as of Monday, Sept. 15. Schedules have been distributed.

WVU School of Dentistry Class of 2011 is hosting our first annual charitable golf tournament. All the proceeds go to Morgantown Health Right. It is a shotgun, scramble starting at 9:00 AM on September 20, 2008 at Meadow Ponds Golf Course. The cost of the tourney is $40.00 per person. This includes your donation, cart and lunch. There will be a FREE golf bag given to each player in the tournament as well as a chance to win a 2009 Honda Civic from I79 Honda! Plus many more chances to win great prizes.
