INVITATION - Wear Your White Coats!; WVU invites you to join us in dedicating the HSC Auditorium to honor the WV Governor who led the effort to create the original Medical Center and locate it on the WVU campus in Morgantown. Governor Okey Patteson was the key proponent of the soft-drink tax that supported construction of the first buildings on campus and continues to fund much of our educational and research effort. 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/patteson/

NEW INTEREST GROUP - RURAL HEALTH. Mollie McCartney, an MS I, is currently working with Hilda Heady and the RHEP office to establish a Rural Health Interest Group here at the Health Sciences Center. The group is open to students from all HSC professional programs and will be focused on education, advocacy, service, and mentoring for future rural health care providers and anyone interested in learning more about the realities of rural healthcare. We will be having an informational meeting, tentatively scheduled for October 6 at noon in Room 1106 HSCN. If you are interested in helping establish the organization or would like more information, email Mollie at mmccart7@mix.wvu.edu. Please see the attached file for more information.

ANESTHESIOLOGY INTEREST GROUP: The Anesthesia Interest Group will hold its first meeting of the year Tuesday, 9/30 at noon in room 1901. Dr. Dennis Allen will be speaking about Anesthesia in private practice. Elections will also be held after his presentation and available positions are VP/President elect for 2009/2010, treasurer, and secretary. Please RSVP by Sunday, 9/28 to wgrace@mix.wvu.edu for lunch and let me know if you are interested in running for an elected position.

ANNUAL AMSA EQUIPMENT SALE: Friday, 10/3/2008 - Noon, Room 1905. RSVP to Sunjay (snunley2@mix.wvu.edu) by this Friday 9/26. Speaking: Kevin Pancratz from "The Medical Store" and some PDCI I & II professors will be in attendance as well. MS 4/Class of 2009:
HEALTH SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Award: $20,000. Fourth year students who are planning on entering primary care internships or residency programs (Family Medicine, General Pediatrics, General Internal Medicine, Med-Peds, OB/GYN, and General Psychiatry) in WV are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Please see Brenda Michael, Office of Student Services, for application packets. Application Deadline: October 15, 2008.

MATCH REGISTRATION: www.nrmp.org THIS PROCESS IS IN ADDITION TO YOUR ERAS. You must be in BOTH systems to successfully secure a residency position.
