CONGRATULATIONS TO NEWLY ELECTED MS4 AOA MEMBERS: Simon Amsdell, Ryan Carr, Megan Cecchini, Derek Clark, Christopher Estel, Greg Hale, Jennifer Koay, and Ashley Rawson.
LET’S GOOOOOOO, MOUNTAINEERS! On Friday, Sept. 4, all WVU fans are invited to share that honor. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and other WVU fans are encouraged to show their support for the school by donning gold and blue that day. WVU is taking part in the national College Colors Day, an annual celebration dedicated to promote the traditions and spirit that make the college experience memorable.

STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE SCHEDULE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7: The Offices of Student Services will be closed Monday, September 7, for the Labor Day Recess. Contact your Dean on Call as needed.
HELP NEEDED WITH FLU SHOT CLINICS (MORGANTOWN): There will be mass flu shot administration clinics on campus this fall beginning in a few weeks. We need experienced MS 2, 3,or 4’s to help give shots for flu shot clinics at HSC on 9/22, 7:00am -6:00pm & at the Rec. Center on 9/28, 3:00pm-7:00pm & October 6, 3:00pm-7:00pm. To sign up 1 or more 2 hour slots for the HSC clinic (9/22) call Student Health 304-293-2311, and ask to speak with a nurse. To sign up for one of the Rec Center clinics (9/28 and 10/6) call 304-293-6246 and leave your name and phone # for Nurse Pat Andersen. There will be more clinics coming up for H1N1 shot clinics in October- stay tuned. If you do not have shot giving experience and would like to obtain it, Dr. Cather will be having 2 shot workshops (Tues, Sept. 8th from 3:30-5:00pm and Thurs, Sept 10th from 4:30-6:00pm). CHANGE IN PROCESSING OF ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION FORMS – NOW ONLINE: The University is now processing all enrollment verifications online with the National Clearinghouse Site thru MIX. Submit all requests for your enrollment verification through MIX – STAR – Student - Services, Housing, and Financial Aid – Registration – Request NSC Enrollment Verification. Print a copy for your records.

SUPPORT GROUP FOR STUDENTS WITH CHILDREN: Carruth Center will be having a support group for students who are parents. The program is called PROPS: Parent Realizing Their Potential as Parents. Contact Carruth Center for details. 304-293-4431.
VIRTUAL PARENTAL NETWORKING SYSTEM FOR STUDENTS WITH CHILDREN: A Listserve is available to students with children from The WVU Council for Women’s Concerns (CWC) serving as a virtual parental networking systems for students; a place for moms and dads to discuss childcare issues, share news and information and connect with others who are dealing with the joys and tribulations of being working parents. HHMI RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES:¬ The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) offers two outstanding “year-out” research training programs. See attached. They also offer the Medical Fellows Program www.hhmi.org/medfellowships and the Cloister Program www.hhmi.org/cloister.

American Medical Student Association (AMSA) will be holding it's introductory meeting on September 10th from 12 noon to 1 PM in the Fukushima Auditorium.

Students from all Campus' are invited to participate. If you are interested in attending one of the sessions, please RSVP via this email and specify the date as well as your desired residency program. One week prior to the program you will be required to submit to our office a CV and Personal Statement.

MS3 / Class of 2011
All Students- The mini-Board will be given at 8:00am on Friday morning in the large classroom. Please arrive 5 minutes early. Please don’t bring any food or drinks with you. Earplugs will be provided. The exam is about 3 ½ to 4 hours.
Family Orientation Program for all Eastern Campus Medical Students will be held at the Eastern Division, Friday, Sept.,25, from 9:00am-12:00noon. Lunch will be provided for students to have lunch with their families. The program will include presentations by the dean, tour of the hospital and an overview of the medical curriculum.
Eastern Panhandle Medical Society Meeting- Wed. Sept. 9th, Panorama at the Peak Steak House, Berkeley Springs, WV. Registration at 6:00pm. Lecture: “Prophylaxis of Venous Thromboembolism” Dinner at 7:30pm. Students invited to attend. Please RSVP to Carol Joseph.
Cushing Students- Please be aware that you will need ten graded H & P’s in your folder by Sept. 14th. This is the midpoint of the semester.
Student H & P’s can be picked up in the City Physician File room in a box marked for H & P’s.
