SCHOOL OF MEDICINE ALUMNI WEEKEND: October 23-24. RSVP to Gina Slaugenhoup gslaugenhoup@hsc.wvu.edu as outlined on your class email notice sent last week.

WOMEN PHYSICIAN’S as part of Alumni Weekend celebration in October, the women alumni of Class of 1979 (their 30th reunion) are putting on a CME activity for students and resident physicians and any other health professional students on Friday afternoon Oct 23rd. This will center on communication, and give current student and woman residents a chance to interact and meet several woman physicians who have “been there and done that”, and would love to serve as a mentoring base for younger women. Several career paths will be represented by the alumni attending: Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Pathology-Hematology, Internal medicine and Psychiatry. See attached. What's Happening this Week - Morgantown:
AMSA upcoming events:
November 10th: AMSA "What the Heck Does that Mean?" Lunch lecture with Dr. John Guilfoose 12 noon in Room 1901.

Students for Global Health will be having a meeting on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 12:00 pm in room 1905. We will have medical students speak about their experiences abroad. Countries should include Zambia, India, and Honduras. Unfortunately we will not be able to provide lunch for this meeting, but please bring a lunch and enjoy the discussion. Thank you!

Training Notice- For 4th year rotations at City Hospital. The IT department is requiring all students to complete training in the new dictation program for medical records. This will be scheduled for you when you return for your next rotation.

Eastern Division Practice Residency Interviews- Please contact the student Services Office to set this up.

MS3 / Class of 2011
Eastern Panhandle Medical Society- Wed. Oct. 14th, Holiday Inn in Martinsburg, 6:00pm-6:30pm Lecture: “Gangs in the Military and in the Community”. Speaker, Susan Leonard, RN, BSN, Certified Forensic Nurse and CEO of the Sword of Justice and Associates.

Mandatory Training session for Students- City Hospital has requested that all students working in the hospital be trained to use the new dictation software. Please see your assigned training session below.
Please contact Jane if you will need a memo to excuse you from your rotation for the morning.
Mon. Oct. 19th 9-10:00am- IT Physician Training Room at City Hospital. Report to Laura in the IT Office. Rebecca, Al, Dan, Lola, Hesum and Zach. (After the OB/Conference)
Th. Oct. 22- 8:00-9:00am- McCormack Ctr., 3rd floor computer lab- Laura, Rehan, Alyson, Matie, Nikki. Please let me know if you will need a memo to excuse your from your clinical rotation that morning.

End of Semester Mini-Weeks will begin on Monday, Oct. 26th. Your weekly assignments will be sent to you this week. Daily assignment will be given out on Oct. 23rd.

Community Service Reminder- Please record your dates and times when you are working on your project. Your time log will be required at the conclusion of your project.

Community Service Opportunity-“Tar Wars” Med students are requested to present the anti-tobacco message in schools. Approximately 45 to 60 minutes presentation.
