Consultation and Pre-surgery Information

If you are considering weight loss surgery at WVU, the first step is to attend a free informational seminar. During this mandatory seminar, an information packet will be provided and you will learn more about our medical team. One of our surgeons will discuss the bariatric procedures we offer, the risks and benefits of surgery, and results you may expect. The clinical psychologist will tell you about the evaluation that is required, as well as possible treatment services that may be of help to you. Our dietitian will review the changes that you’ll need to make in your eating habits after surgery. The seminar is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to share information with other patients.

To make a reservation for the seminar, please call (304) 293-6386. A letter and “WVU Surgical Weight Loss Medical Inventory” will be mailed to you a few weeks before the seminar. It is important to accurately complete the “Weight Loss Medical Inventory” and bring it with you to the seminar. This information is used to help screen prospective candidates for surgery.
